History of this Campus
This 3.15-acre parcel of land was historically known as the “Mission Compound” during the early 18th century, when Christian missionaries established a charitable hospital on the site. Subsequently, a mission school—originally located in the heart of Jandiala—was relocated to this land as a government-aided institution. It was the first school in the region, playing a pioneering role in educating the local population and surrounding communities.
Legacy of Campus
For many years, this land has upheld its legacy of serving the town of Jandiala—beginning with healthcare services, then functioning as a girls’ hostel, and later evolving into a center for educational institutions.
Development of Campus
Baring School, Jandiala Guru has its roots in the Girl’s Mission Primary School (Aided), which served the community until its closure in 2013 due to inadequate staffing and limited resources. Following the closure, in 2015, the Amritsar Diocese Trust Association (ADTA) (Regd.), through its Secretary, decided to lease the land to the Baring Union Christian College Association (Regd.), Batala. This initiative led to the establishment of a new branch of Baring School, Batala, at Jandiala Guru.
The school operates under the aegis of the Baring Union Christian College Association (Regd.), Batala (The Association is a charitable non-profit society of the Indian Christian Community, registered under the Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860). As an extension of Baring School, Batala, it functions as a Christian Minority Co-Educational Institution, recognized under Section 2(G) of the National Commission for Minority Educational Institutions Act, 2004.
In 2016, under the leadership of The Most Revd. Dr. P.K. Samantaroy, Bishop and Chairman , the institution was re-established and named BARING SCHOOL, JANDIALA GURU. Dr. Derick Engles, Secretary, BUCCA (Regd.) and Manager Baring School Jandiala Guru stepped up to refurbished and refit the land as per educational prerequisites and specifications. The school commenced (February 2016), receiving a warm and enthusiastic response from the local community with an initial enrollment of 124 students spanning Nursery to Grade 1.
Since then, Baring School, Jandiala Guru has grown steadily and now educates over 1,270 students from Nursery to Grade 10. Upholding its legacy of academic excellence, the school has emerged as one of the region’s most respected educational institutions, known for its commitment to quality, inclusivity, and holistic development.
